Youwan Taylor is a devoted husband, proud father of two daughters, United States Marine Corps combat veteran, New York City firefighter, former New York State Trooper, and accomplished entrepreneur. Youwan served six years in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His military service helped develop the leadership, resilience, accountability, and determination that continue to shape every area of his life. After serving his country, he continued his commitment to public safety through law enforcement and firefighting. As an FDNY firefighter, Youwan works demanding shifts while remaining dedicated to protecting the people of New York City.
In April 2015, Youwan founded T&G Flavors Inc., a family-operated Caribbean restaurant located in Cambria Heights, Queens. As the company’s sole owner, he has successfully operated the business for more than eleven years. T&G Flavors specializes in authentic Caribbean and American cuisine, providing customers with flavorful meals prepared with quality ingredients, cultural pride, and genuine hospitality. The restaurant also provides catering services and has the capacity to produce up to 500 meals for private events, community programs, businesses, and government organizations.
Youwan’s entrepreneurial vision extends beyond operating a restaurant. He is working to expand T&G Flavors, secure corporate and government contracts, create additional businesses, and build a strong parent-company structure that can support multiple income-producing ventures. He is also committed to pursuing veteran-owned, minority-owned, and service-disabled veteran-owned business certifications to create new opportunities for sustainable growth.
As a 100 percent disabled veteran, immigrant, husband, father, firefighter, and business owner, Youwan understands the challenges faced by hardworking people who are trying to provide for their families while rebuilding their lives. His larger mission is to help veterans, fathers, entrepreneurs, and working families discover valuable resources, benefits, career opportunities, and legitimate ways to earn additional income.
